Cheonggyecheon - Freeway turned to River and Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁)

We went for a walk just down the street from one of the oldest palaces in Seoul (Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁))

when we happened upon a gorgeous waterfall and river in the middle of a busy free way.  While walking along its 600 year old bridge, Lino, Harry and Wonsong told Ben and I about some of the history of this wildly successful transformation project.  Apparently the water feeds from the mountains that can't be seen in the background and was part of a project to bring nature back as part of culture.  TreeHugger has a wonderful article here!

The river also runs along side a huge Korea Be !nspired sign!
